Hotel Audio Distribution System Amplifiers

Our team recently upgraded the audio control system at Portofino Bay Hotel at Universal Orlando. It now covers the entire hotel, including 3 pools, 21 ballrooms, and 9 restaurants and all public spaces. We customized the system with programming that simplifies sound management for staff. Now, any hotel employee can easily adjust sound levels across different areas.

We also developed a custom iPad interface, designed specifically for Portofino Bay. This in-house programmed interface allows staff to control audio from anywhere on the property. The iPad’s user-friendly design streamlines the process and improves efficiency.

The system includes role-based access, giving the right team members the right controls. Management has full access to the entire audio system, from the pool to the ballrooms. Meanwhile, other staff have permissions based on their responsibilities. For example, poolside staff can manage sound levels in their area, and lobby staff can control audio in the reception space.

This automation and security make sound control simple and efficient for everyone. Management can fine-tune audio, while staff quickly adjust sound to create the perfect atmosphere. The system has proven to be a valuable asset, whether setting the right tone for events or maintaining the pool’s relaxing ambiance.

Summary

Our team created and installed an updated audio control and management system for the entire hotel including three pools, twenty one ballrooms, all public areas and nine restaurants.

We first removed more than fifty processors, computers, mixers and hundreds of feet of wire from the original 1999 installation. We then installed our pre-programmed DSP processors and Crestron control system. We performed the entire switch over in one night to minimize any guest inconvenience. The hotel’s 162 audio zones were without music for less than four hours and live by 6am for the next day’s events.

This Soundweb powered DSP upgrade provided the hotel with a fully customizable system that allows super easy updates and scalability within their audio system. It provides system-wide audio EQ, leveling, compression, limiters and individual zone controls. The entire system is controlled with an Apple iPad or the large 10” touch screen that is mounted in the the rack. The touch panel was designed to fit the beautiful Italian theme of the Portofino Bay Hotel.

Consequently, this state-of-the-art space allows them to physically preview all their 3D CAD files and engineering projects. Enhancing Collaboration Beyond VR

Although many companies use VR for CAD file walkthroughs, VR often falls short in terms of real-time discussion. Specifically, it lacks the capability for team members to see where others are focusing or pointing. Therefore, our 360 LED video wall bridges this gap by allowing everyone in the room to view and discuss the designs simultaneously, creating a more interactive and engaging experience. Collaboration with Igloo Vision

In this groundbreaking project, we partnered with Igloo Vision, whose software suite expertly manages the 3D CAD integrations. Meanwhile, Ascend took charge of all other aspects, including software and media management, hardware design, installation, and implementation. Consequently, this collaboration ensured a seamless integration of cutting-edge technologies.

A Global First – 360 LED video Wall Room

We are proud to announce that this is the world’s first 360 LED video wall room. Furthermore, it is a pioneering achievement, with only one other similar room located in Dubai. Thus, the immersive experience provided by this room is truly mind-blowing and sets a new benchmark in the industry.

Easy Streaming and Control

The system allows the Burns McDonnell team to stream their designs effortlessly from networked computers or through local wireless connections. Additionally, our design includes high-quality K-Array speakers, full-color programmable recessed lighting, and a sophisticated control system. Consequently, team members can easily manage everything using a wall-mounted touch panel or Surface tablet, making the system both intuitive and user-friendly.
